Hi, I'm Ana

I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Lisbon, Portugal.

A few years back, I moved here with my family. What started as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.

How It Began

Moving to Portugal wasn't in the plans you had laid out for the long haul. Like many international assignments, it started as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.

The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than expected.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.

Why I Created Bright Valley Pod

Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.

This site strives to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Portugal.

What this site covers (and doesn't)

This site is:

  • Practical insight from living in Portugal
  • Centered on family life and daily realities
  • Updated whenever a real change occurs

This site isn't:

  • Not a tourism authority resource
  • Sponsored review site
  • Just another generic travel blog

Looking forward

Our stay in Portugal continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I will continue recording what we uncover.

If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Ana
